Appliances that Contain Freon

The Clean Air Act of 1990 mandates that cholorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydro chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) are properly recaptured, recycled, and disposed of. The Act requires that no items containing CFCs or HCFCs may be accepted unless the accepting party can provide proof of proper removal.  The EPA requires certification for all technicians removing Freon.

Appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers may use freon as a coolant. Locations for proper handling of these appliances can be found here.
